Dream Team contest rules

Contest description

  • To participate in the Dream Team contest, form the team of four participants: a hair stylist, a makeup artist, a nail technician and a model (model should not be older than 25 years). Register on the web-site. In response to the registration, you will receive a confirmation letter and further instructions for participation in the Contest.

  • Create a complete fashion look in accordance with the ‘Red carpet’ style. Send us a set of photos with this look on molfar.dreamteam@gmail.com by January 15, 2017 and wait on the jury’s decision. This is the first qualifying stage of the Contest.

  • From January 15 to January 31, 2018, 14 best teams would be selected by the jury and online public vote.

  • On April 22, 2018 all teams from the shortlist will arrive at Bukovel and will stay there until April 26, 2018. According to the rules of the Contest, participants have to recreate submitted looks on the main stage of the Molfar Beauty Forum.

  • Juries will assess the looks and decide a winner team that will get 100,000 hryvnias Grand Prix and the perpetual Cup. Besides, teams with outstanding performance in every section (Manicure, Makeup, Hairstyling) will be awarded with three money certificates, 25,000 hryvnias each. In addition, one team will be selected by public vote (an audience choice award). This team will get 25,000 hryvnias money prize as well.

  • The contest has its participation fee. You will receive payment details in your response e-mail right after your registration will be proceeded. The participation fee for one team with one contest look is 1,500 hryvnias. One team cannot have more than two submitted looks.

Photo requirements

Scene requirements for a photo:

  • Manicure. Take a picture of model’s hands so that all the details of her manicure are visible.

  • Makeup. Take two close ups of a model — one without any makeup (‘Before’) and the other with a makeup (‘After’). Both shots, ‘Before’ and ‘After’, should be front-view — a model is looking straight at the camera.

  • Hairstyling. Take 2 – 3 pictures in which the form and details of a hairstyle are clearly visible.

  • A complete look. Take the full shots of a model, in which one can easily observe a total look.

Technical photo requirements:

  • RGB;
  • 300 dpi;
  • 2048×1536 px;
  • 20×30.

Agenda

  • Qualification: Form a team. Accomplish a contest task. Pass to the next stage by being selected by juries or online public vote.

  1. To take part in the Contest put together a team of four people: a hair stylist, a makeup artist, a nail technician and a model (all models should be aged under 25).
  2. Working in a team, create a complete fashion look in line with the ‘Red carpet’ style.
  3. Take photos of a haircut, a manicure, a makeup and the whole look considering required criteria.
  4. Register your team by January 15, 2018 and pay participation fee in the amount of 1,500 hryvnias. (You will receive the requisites for payment after registration). Send a package of photos with completed tasks in response to our letter.
  5. From January 15 to January 31, 2018, the expert jury will pick 12 best teams judging from their works. Two more teams will be shortlisted due to the results of the online viewers voting.
  • Final: Recreate your look on the main stage of the Molfar Beauty Forum at Bukovel.

  1. In February 2018 all shortlisted teams will receive invitations to the Molfar Beauty Forum. Each team should arrive at Forum at full strength. Substitutions are not allowed neither for the main members in the team, nor for the model.
  2. Each team needs to recreate their looks on the large stage of the Forum. The best team, which outperforms its opponents, will be awarded with 100,000 hryvnias Grand Prix and the valuable perpetual Cup of the Molfar Beauty Forum. It is also possible to get one of the awards in the nominations (the best manicure, hairstyle, or makeup) as well as to win the audience choice award. Each of these four prizes amounts to 25,000 hryvnias.
  3. The participation fee for the final stage is 12,000 hryvnias for one team (i.e. 3,000 hryvnias per person).
  4. This fee covers the price of Premium tickets for four team members (hotel rooms with high class living comfort, entrance pass to all seminars, workshops and parties, full board). The Premium tickets price for ordinary participants is 24,000 hryvnias for four people (i.e. 6,000 hryvnias per person). Thus, the participation fee for contestants is twice lower than the Premium tickets price.

  5. Teams that qualified for the final must buy tickets to the Forum before February 14, 2018.
  • Awards. Grand Prix in the amount of 100,000 hryvnias in cash a winner-team will receive at Forum’s closing ceremony. At the same time, the winners of four nominations will get — certificates for 25,000 hryvnias.

Assessment criteria for the qualifying stage

Before you start working on your look, pay attention that this look should be represented by your team in the final of the Dream Team Contest at Bukovel (i.e. a photo element is followed by a live element). Time limits for each section (Manicure, Makeup, Hairstyling) are 90, 45 and 60 minutes respectively. You do not need to get the timing right while preparing the look. However, bare in mind that time is strictly limited in the final.

Manicure

General requirements:

  1. Nail design must be ‘wearable’ and in tune with the trends of 2018.
  2. Nail design should be in perfect harmony with the final look.

Requirements for model:

  1. Contestants may apply any length nail enhancements to their models nails prior to the contest without any design work.
  2. The nail length from the cuticle to the top should be minimum 2 cm long but not more than 5 cm long.
  3. The cuticle line should be smooth, clean and clearly visible.
  4. Manicure must not include elements that depict human beings, animals, birds, insects or any other living creatures.

Permitted:

  1. Any nail enhancement products, tools and equipment may be used to achieve the design.
  2. Accessories are all allowed.
  3. Nail design might be completed in any technique, it may have, for instance, flat or rough surface, or include 3D elements if desired.

Assessment criteria

  • 1 – 5 points. Complexity and workmanship. Judges asses if the workmanship is neat and clean as well as if every detail of design is clear and precise.
  • 1 – 5 points. Originality. The design should have an innovative approach (be unique and original) and outline the imaginative vision of the author.
  • 1 – 5 points. Colours. The colours enhance the design and complement each other.
  • 1 – 5 points. Overall impression. The design makes an excellent overall impression, it is complete and needs no improvement.
Makeup

General requirements:

  1. Makeup must be the newest up to date trend for today.

Requirements for model:

  1. Models must have no permanent makeup or cosmetic tattooing.
  2. Models must not have any eyelash extensions applied.
Permitted:
  1. While accomplishing the contest work, a makeup artist may use aerograph, gel textures, small decorative elements such as false lashes or rhinestones.

Assessment criteria

  • 1 – 5 points. Overall impression, aesthetichs.
  • 1 – 5 points. Form, complexity, symmetry.
  • 1 – 5 points. Colours, colour harmonies.
  • 1 – 5 points. Freshness of the makeup.
Hairstyling

General requirements:

  1. A hairstylist must not use coloured hairsprays or false hairpieces. No hair extensions of any kind are allowed.
  2. All styling tools are allowed.
  3. Accessories are all allowed. Hairstylists need to carefully think of their placement as accents and emphasis to the hairstyle.
  4. Hair must be coloured. The choice is free whereas the colouring technique should be complex, multicoloured. Only up to date colouring techniques must be applied.

Requirements for model:

  1. Model’s hair should have shoulder length or be any longer.

Assessment criteria

  • 1 – 5 points. Form of a hairstyle, complexity, technical excellence.
  • 1 – 5 points. Hair colouring technique, clearness of colours.
  • 1 – 5 points. Total look, overall impressions.
  • 1 – 5 points. Original idea.

Rules for the final stage

  1. A team at full strength should arrive in time (at least 10 minutes before each section starts). Competitors must supply all necessary products, tools and equipment. Table layout and set-up will be taken into account.
  2. If a team is late, it will not take part in the section.
  3. Contestants should bring their own materials, tools and needed accessories with them. They may use any of them, regardless of brands.
  4. Forum organisers provide participants with an equipped workstation, which has a chair, a table, a socket, a mirror and is lit.
  5. Sound signals define the start and the end of every contest section.
  6. After the voice command ‘Stop!’, all contestants must abandon their work, immediately clean their station and leave the contest area. Models must stay at their places until all judges have judged them. Proper compliance with the Rules is controlled at every stage of the contest.
  7. Participants cannot leave the contest area without the permission of the jury foreman.
  8. Models are not allowed to leave the contest area until the assessment process is fully completed, or without the permission of the jury foreman.
  9. All models should be aged under 25.
The Jury reserves the right to disqualify contestants for disobeying the contest rules.These rules are mandatory for all contest sections — Makeup, Hairstyling, Manicure and for the last stage where the final look is assessed by a fashion stylist.

  1. Manicure
  2. Makeup
  3. Hairstyling
  4. Final look

Assessment criteria in the final

Manicure
  1. The time limit is 90 minutes.

  • 1 – 5 points. Working process: a clean and hygienic working area, work safety and hygiene, accuracy.
  • 1 – 5 points. Complexity and workmanship. Technical skills are taken into consideration and the ability to work with different professional tools. Judges assess the workmanship (if it is neat and clean) as well as they pay attention to every detail of the design (whether various elements of the design are well-balanced, neither too sparse nor too busy).
  • 1 – 5 points. Originality. The design should show an innovative approach (be unique and original) and outline the imaginative vision of the author.
  • 1 – 5 points. Colours. The colours should enhance the design, be in balance and complement each other.
  • 1 – 5 points. Overall impressions, the manicure has to have harmony with a total look.
Makeup
  1. The time limit is 45 minutes.
  2. Makeup artists must have the photo of a model with no makeup in front of them at their workstation. The photo format is A4. It should be prepared in advance and brought to the contest.
  3. Makeup must be the newest up to date trend for today.

Requirements for model

  1. Models must not have permanent makeup or cosmetic tattooing.
  2. Models must not have any eyelash extensions applied.
  3. Models must arrive with no makeup on prior to the start of the contest.
Permitted:
  1. Any nail enhancement product, tools and equipment may be used to achieve the design.

Assessment criteria

  • 1 – 5 points. Working process: a clean and hygienic working area, work safety and hygiene, accuracy.
  • 1 – 5 points. Overall impressions: ‘Before’ and ‘After’ (aesthetics).
  • 1 – 5 points. Form, complexity and symmetry.
  • 1 – 5 points. Colours, colour harmonies.
  • 1 – 5 points. Freshness of the makeup (if it is current and up to date)
Hairstyling
  1. The time limit is 60 minutes.
  2. A model arrives fully-dressed in accordance with the final look. It is the same model that was assessed in the Manicure and Makeup sections.
  3. A hairstyle must be trendy.
  4. Prior to the start of work it is forbidden to use any clips, pins or hair doughnuts.
  5. A hairstylist must not use coloured hairsprays or false hairpieces. No hair extensions of any kind are allowed.
  6. The use of any styling products is allowed.
  7. Accessories are all allowed.
  8. Hair must be coloured. The choice is free whereas the colouring technique should be complex, multicoloured. Only up to date colouring techniques must be applied.

Requirements for model

  1. The hair of a model should be straight and slicked back.
  2. The hair should have shoulder length or be any longer.

Assessment criteria

  • 1 – 5 points. Working process: a clean and hygienic working area, work safety and hygiene, accuracy.
  • 1 – 5 points. Form of a hairstyle, complexity, technical excellence.
  • 1 – 5 points. Hair colouring technique, clearness of colours
  • 1 – 5 points. Total look, overall impressions.
  • 1 – 5 points. Original idea.

After the assessment of the ‘Hairstyling’ section is completed, every team will have 10 minutes to get ready to the model’s final catwalk. That is the last stage of the contest which allows judges to evaluate total looks.
